Links
This is the total number of times a link from the domain appeared on first search result pages of the analyzed search engines. It provides a comparison of how many times your links appeared in prominent positions to those of your competitors.

Rank
The highest achieved rank for the domain.

Popularity
The link popularity is a sum of all pages linking to the domain across all engines analyzed. This gives you an indication of how well the engines index pages that link to the given domain.

Max Popularity
This is the highest link popularity value found on any given engine. This is a more accurate indication of how many other pages are actually linking to the domain.

Saturation
The search engine saturation value is the total number of pages indexed from the domain. This is a sum total of all pages for all engines analyzed.

Max Saturation
The maximum saturation is the highest number of indexed pages found on any given engine.

The Page title is very important in terms of your search engine ranking.

You should make sure that the most relevant search term appears in the title.

Aim to have the most important keyword at the start of the title.

Avoid using general keywords or descriptions such as "Welcome to our homepage"

Notes: Some engines will use the META Description when generating an extract for your page. For this reason, it is important to keep the description current and up-to date. Unlike the META Keywords tag, the description text is indexed by more engines.

Tips: You should use the META Description tag if there is no other indexable text on the page. If there is sufficient text on your pages, it is better to delete the META Description tag IF:

the descriptions are likely to be out of date and are not being maintained

the same description is used on multiple pages throughout your site.

the descriptions are general and not relevant or tailored to each individual page.

Notes: Today, the META Keywords tag is used by very few engines and is generally ignored. The few engines that still use this tag usually assign a lower weight or priority to such keywords. For this reason it is important that your main keywords also appear on the actual page itself.

Tips:

You should use the META Keywords tag for very specific terms and phrases that can not be placed on the page itself. Engines that still use this tag, such as Inktomi, will index those terms.

Aim to include specific search phrases and not just individual keywords.

This section show you how most search engines see the above URL and what text will be indexed.

The text in gray is either ignored by most engines, or given little weight in terms of ranking.

Headings and bold text is often given a higher priority and is Highlighted.

Linked text is very important in terms of ranking and is underlined.

Link Text
Link Text column is the actual highlighted text used in the link such as: Linked Text. For image links, the ALT tag description is displayed.

Note: The Link Text is of special importance as that can help influence the relevancy rating of your pages.
If possible, you should aim to include the main search keywords and phrases in at least a few of these hyper text links.

Note: Some engines use the linking relationship to help determine the relevancy of your site. If you are seen to link to sites that are unrelated to your target queries, you relevance rating for these queries may be decreased. Linking to sites that are relevant may improve your relevancy rating on some engines and thus improve your overall search engine ranking.

You should aim for at least 3% density for all important search terms that you wish to rank on.

You should optimize each page for no more than 3-4 search terms. If you need to use additional terms, use a different page or create a new one or this purpose.

There are two main points that you need to watch out for. The STATUS on the first line, should read 200 OK.

If your status code is 301 or 302, this indicates a redirection. Submission of these pages should be avoided as such pages may not be accepted by some search engines. Other codes, may indicate more serious problems.

Also important, is the content type. The Content-Type tag indicates the type of data which is returned when the page is requested. For HTML pages, this should be text/html.

Recommendation: If you do not have an existing linking strategy, you should consider putting one in place. There are many ways of generating links to your web sites, the simplest of which is just asking appropriate web sites to add a link to you. Other options include:

• Placement in online directories
  
• Reciprocal agreements with other sites
  
• Contra deals and other incentive schemes to encourage linking.
  
• Affiliate programs
  
• Advertising on key sites.
  

Note: The quality of links can also be a ranking criteria. A link on a popular site tends to be given a higher weighting.

The link saturation report is quite important from a search engine marketing point of view. You should aim to have as many pages from your site indexed by the engines. This increases the chances of a page from your site coming up in the search results for a given query.

The report not only provides a measure of your success in achieving this goal, but it can also help you quickly identify any indexing related problems.

If you find that not all of your pages are being indexed, you should look into the various Paid Inclusion programs offered by most engines. These services will usually guarantee that your pages are indexed within a few days.
